THIS

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Dr. Andrea Spellman from Clevens Face and Body Specialists spoke with Victoria Landing residents and guests on awareness and prevention. Dr. Spellman, who is located right in Melbourne, shared facts about skin cancer and tips on limiting the risks. Attendees were surprised to learn that Skin Cancer is the most common form of cancer and that one in five people will be diagnosed during their lifetime. Skin Cancer is treatable if detected early.

Three Things you must know:

  1. Nearly all skin cancers are preventable by  limiting unprotected exposure to the sun.
  2. Most skin cancers can be treated successfully if detected early –  even melanoma.
  3. When out in the sun, seek shade & “Slip! Slop! Slap! Wrap!”
      • Slip on a Shirt
      • Slop on SPF 30+ Sunscreen
      • Slap on a Hat
      • Wrap on Sunglasses
